Textron Aviation recently announced its new Beechcraft King Air 260 turboprop and joins the Beechcraft King Air 360 which received FAA type certification in October as the newest additions to the lineup. The King Air 260 features upgrades to both the cockpit and the cabin, including the addition of the Innovative Solutions & Support (IS&S) ThrustSense Autothrottle and a digital pressurization controller. The Collins Aerospace Multi-Scan weather radar system comes standard on all King Air 260s. Certification and deliveries of the King Air 260 are expected to come in early 2021.

    bout The Air King 260

Like other aircraft in the King Air 200 series, the 260 has space for up to nine people, a maximum range of 1,720 nautical miles (3,185 kilometers), and a top speed of 310 ktas (574 km/h). The Air King 260 has an updated cockpit to reduce pilot workload with a digital pressurization controller to automatically schedule cabin pressurization during climb and descent. The ThrustSense Autothrottle automatically manages engine power during all phases of flight from takeoff to cruise to landing, which prevents over-or under-speed as well as over-temp and over-torque conditions.

“These investments reflect our commitment to providing superior upgrades and engineering innovation that create the best flying experience for Beechcraft King Air 260 owners and operators around the world,” says Textron President and CEO Ron Draper. “We place an immense value on our conversations with our customers, and the investments we make in our aircraft are a direct result of listening to their input. I’m proud of the impressive effort by our team for taking a legendary aircraft and adding technological advancements that will allow customers to achieve their varied missions.”
