Cirrus Aircraft has unveiled the newly upgraded G2+ Vision Jet that offers a 20% increase in takeoff performance by way of a newly optimized thrust profile to the jet’s single Williams FJ33-5A engine. The new G2+ also makes Gogo InFlight Wi-Fi connectivity (using Gogo’s AVANCE L3 system) available for the first time on a Vision Jet, and the aircraft comes in new exterior colors such as Titan Grey, Volt, and Bimini Blue.

    Evolution Of The Vision Jet

Cirrus launched the Vision Jet in 2016, saying it defined a new category in aviation: the “Personal Jet.” Designed for business and personal travel, the Vision Jet is general aviation’s best-selling jet, Cirrus claims. The manufacturer won a Robert J. Collier Trophy in 2018 for jet’s standard whole-airframe Cirrus Aircraft Parachute System (CAPS).

In 2019, Cirrus released the G2 (second-generation) Vision Jet with an upgraded Perspective Touch+ Garmin flight deck and such technologies as Autothrottle and Flight Stream connectivity. That same year, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certified the aircraft’s optional Safe Return Emergency Autoland system. The new G2+ has a 1,275-nautical-mile (2,360-kilometer) range, a top cruise speed of 305 ktas, a 1,400-pound (635-kilogram) payload, and seats up to seven passengers.

    Personal Aviation Transformed

The newest Vision Jet has the G2’s expanded, 31,000-foot (9,450-meter) flight envelope, but thanks to the newly optimized performance of the Williams FJ33-5A engine, the G2+ has greater range, a higher payload, and enhanced performance in hot temperatures and high elevations. Cirrus says all of this adds up to access to more airports around the globe.

“The G2+ Vision Jet is the next step in continuing to transform personal aviation,” says Cirrus Aircraft CEO Zean Nielsen. “The enhancements to both the takeoff performance capabilities in hot and high conditions and the InFlight Wi-Fi connected passenger experience ensure that the Vision Jet continues to exceed the evolving needs of our owners, both present and future.”
