Cirrus Aircraft G6 SR Series Enhancements Mean Faster, More Fuel-Efficient Flights

Cirrus Aircraft has updated its single-engine piston-powered G6 SR Series for 2022 with sleeker wing and tail surfaces, redesigned wheel pants, and other improvements that make the aircraft 9 knots faster while reducing drag and enhancing fuel efficiency. The 2022 G6 SR Series also offers easier access to luggage, safer entries to and exits from the aircraft, more convenient mobile device charging, and eight new exterior paint colors. The aircraft manufacturer has also updated its Cirrus IQ platform-powered Cirrus Aircraft app.

    Personalized Aviation

The 2022 G6 SR Series includes the SR20, SR22, and turbocharged SR22T models. (Cirrus also manufacturers the Vision Jet, touted as the world’s first single-engine Personal Jet.) Cirrus introduced the SR Series in 1999 for business aviation and training applications. In 2020, it unveiled the all-new sixth-generation 2020 G6 SR Series, complete with inclusion of the Cirrus Aircraft app, which tracks critical pre-flight data and sends notifications about upcoming inspections and aircraft maintenance, and keeps track of date and flight hour limits of Cirrus’ Spinner-to-Tail warranty. For 2022, the app’s status screen has been redesigned with a new navigation bar that provides aircraft status, inspection interval, and warranty expiration information. In February, Cirrus will update the app and add a My Trips module that automatically logs every flight and curates important trip stats and achievements.

“The model year 2022 G6 SR is refreshed to seamlessly sync with your life—taking you further, keeping you connected, and distinguishing your style in the air and on the ramp,” says Ivy McIver, SR Series product line director. “The latest update to the G6 embodies our passion for continued innovation and commitment to design. We are excited to continue introducing more people to personal aviation and empowering their Cirrus life story.”

    A Focus On Convenience

The planes’ new Cirrus Aircraft Spectra illuminated steps improve step and ground visibility in dark or low-light conditions, making entry and exit safer and more convenient. Passengers will also appreciate a new high-power multifunctional USB panel with USB-A and USB-C ports for their mobile devices, and new remote, keyless entry to the luggage compartment.

For the eight new exterior paint colors, the Cirrus Xi Design team partnered with Sherwin Williams Aerospace on a new paint formulation process that provides enhanced color definition and flexibility. The design team also developed options for an all-leather interior featuring premium handcrafted leather seats or adding black Alcantara inserts.
