Gulfstream’s next-generation G500 business jet is appearing at the Aero Friedrichshafen trade show happening through Saturday near Lake Constance in Friedrichshafen, Germany. The appearance is the first at a German aviation show for the large-cabin aircraft, which was introduced in 2014 alongside the G600 and entered service in 2018. Earlier this month, Gulfstream Customer Support added Field and Airborne Support Teams in Munich to better serve customers in the region.

“Germany continues to be an important market for us,” says Scott Neal, Gulfstream senior vice president of worldwide sales. “We are making significant investments in this region with the help of Regional Vice President of sales Oliver Bergsch, who joined Gulfstream in 2022. We are thrilled to display the G500 at Aero 2023 this week and are looking forward to showcasing this award-winning aircraft for our customers.”

    Numerous Distinctions

Equipped with two high-thrust PW814GA Pratt & Whitney engines, the 19-passenger G500 established nearly two dozen city pair speed records even before entering service. Gulfstream says the power plants and the jet’s aerodynamic wing design contribute to an increase in fuel efficiency of more than 30% over the G450.

Gulfstream says the G500 is the first aircraft certified to use enhanced vision for landing and the first business aircraft certified for Stage 5 noise standards. In addition, the jet introduced the Gulfstream Symmetry Flight Deck to the business aviation industry. The flight deck provides 10 touchscreen displays and active control sidesticks that enhance visual and tactile feedback between pilots, thus improving situational awareness. Integrated Phase-of-Flight intelligence, meanwhile, reduces pilots’ workload while enhancing safety and operational efficiency.

    The G500

Featuring a clean-sheet design, the G500 can be configured with up to three living areas, which are flooded with natural lighting thanks to 14 windows that Gulfstream says are the largest in business aviation. This wealth of natural light, along with 100% fresh air that’s never recirculated, “whisper-quiet” sound levels, and the lowest cabin altitude in the G500’s class all combine to form what the manufacturer calls “the Gulfstream Cabin Experience.”

The G500 has a maximum flight range of 5,300 nautical miles (9,816 kilometers) at a long-range cruise speed of Mach 0.85, a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925, a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90, and a maximum cruise altitude of 51,000 ft (15,545 meters).
