Many times on these older Legacy aircraft, you find little things that just aren’t working 100% or are intermittent. For example, pressurization not quite making max diff, maybe a radio not working as it should or works intermittently, a Radar Altimeter not working but the pilot says he or she doesn’t use it anyway, and on and on. Absolutely not the case with this King Air. This Aircraft is owned by a long-time client and friend of mine. He is in the Commercial Real estate business as well as being a very experienced corporate jet pilot. The King Air is his personal Aircraft. Based in Wyoming, he flies in and out of the mountains in icing and other non-ideal conditions quite often, so he is extremely meticulous about everything, including all avionics working perfectly. In fact, he flies over a national reserve where you are fined thousands if you go below 2,000 feet, thus the new Radar Altimeter. If it’s in the aircraft or the panel, it works as expected or it immediately gets fixed or replaced. The Aircraft is tight, makes max differential pressure, the air-conditioning is very cold, the Autopilot / Garmin 625 are set up to shoot all approaches, including GPS, LPV approaches, etc. Only 10 landings on brand new Tires and Brakes.
