Description
We are very pleased to advise that this magnificent Spitfire Mk.XIVe is now available for acquisition. Embargoed until this moment, this is a unique opportunity to secure one of the finest examples of the marque in existence.
The Spitfire Mk.XIVe represents the ultimate evolution of the breed. By pairing the legendary Supermarine airframe with the immense power of the Rolls-Royce Griffon engine, this variant defined the final stages of the Second World War. It is a stunning combination of raw, high-altitude performance and that classic, elegant profile that still captures the imagination like no other fighter.
This particular specimen was the subject of a comprehensive, ground-up restoration by Historic Flying, Audley End, UK. Then after a take-off incident in New Zealand, it went to AvSpecs Ltd at Ardmore, New Zealand who carried out the necessary repairs to the aircraft including the application of its striking SEAC colour scheme. The aircraft has subsequently flown just 23 hours since its return to the air.
Over the last decade, this glorious restoration has served as the undisputed star attraction at the highly acclaimed Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre in Blenheim, New Zealand, where it has been admired by around 30,000 visitors per year. When it hasn’t been on display, it has been a crowd favourite at the spectacular Classic Fighters Omaka airshows, where it has consistently thrilled thousands of enthusiasts with its breathtaking handling and that unmistakeable Griffon roar.
It is a privilege to bring such a significant piece of aviation history to the market. This is a rare chance to own a true masterpiece of engineering that is not only a museum-quality showpiece but a proven, exhilarating performer.
