Description
For Sale: 1988 Glasair III Kit. Unique opportunity!!
This aircraft has a solid history, originally flying 800 hours before a nose gear failure on taxi grounded it. The aircraft was located in the US when this happened and was subsequently brought to Australia to be repaired. The repairs needed were minimal with only the Cowls, engine frame, propeller and engine needing repairs (no other damage was done). All these repairs have been completed and the aircraft is awaiting paint then needs reassembling. A lot of $ have been spent on the aircraft since it came to Australia but I just don't have the time or resources to finish it. The kit comes with everything needed to finish it. The kit was well built and I have a lot of the history of original owner and builder (can be supplied on enquiry)
Key Features:
• Updated windshield (speed modification)
• Updated gear legs
• Updated carbon gear legs doors (gear speed increased to 140-150kts)
• New wheels
• Fueslage has been primed / sanded and is ready for paint (over 20k spent with a paint shop to get it to this stage)
• Plus much more
Engine:
• TSIO-540 fitted
• All hardware for the engine is there
• Due for a bulk strip — the only reason being that the engine logbooks were lost and it's believed to have around 1,200 hours, so we're bulk stripping it as a precaution rather than for any known issue
Condition / Completeness:
• Complete kit, ready to rebuild — everything is there
• Fuselage fully prepped for paint
• Wings still to be prepped for paint
• Comes with a lot of extras
• Interior is there, but a new interior is recommended
• Minimal avionics — buyer would need to fit avionics
History:
• Originally a flying kit, imported from the States, approx. 800 hours
• Had a nose gear failure — all damage since repaired professionally
• Rebuild included a slanted windscreen, repaired nose gear, new engine frame and a different engine
• A number of speed mods were done and it was taxiing again
• A lot of the work was carried out by Ian Baker, owner of Glasair Australia
• I then stripped it back down for paint and a full rebuild
Paperwork:
• All aircraft logbooks are present
• All work carried out, including the damage and its repair, has been entered into the logbooks
• All necessary paperwork comes with the airframe
Short version: it's a good build with all parts present, ready to be put back together.Specifications
