Air Tractor today is a worldwide ag plane manufacturer, with 60-plus years of experience making planes that are currently used in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, and around the world. The company’s roots go back to 1951, when Leland Snow designed an ag plane called the S-1, which he flew in test flights at the age of 23. He initially flew the S-1 in Texas and Nicaragua on dusting and spraying jobs until 1957.

In 1958, Snow officially founded The Snow Aeronautical Company with a manufacturing facility in Olney, Texas. He sold his company to Rockwell-Standard in 1965, but stayed onboard until 1970. It was at that time that Snow left to start designing the first Air Tractor ag plane. Between 1977, when Air Tractor released the first AT-302, to 1993, the company sold over 1,100 planes.

The Air Tractor planes for sale on Controller.com often consist of AT-502, AT-602, and AT802A models, which are specifically designed for use in agricultural applications, but have also been known for helping out in firefighting purposes as well.
