    About Aviat Aircraft

Based in Afton, Wyoming, and founded in 1985, Aviat Aircraft develops, manufactures, services, updates, restores, and repairs STOL (short takeoff and landing)-centric recreation, utility, and aerobatic aircraft. The company’s models include variants of the Husky, Pitts, and Eagle lines. Aviat also operates a 152 Reimagined program in collaboration with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association from which it sells restored Cessna 150 and 152 models.

Versions of the two-seat, light Husky, dubbed “America’s Favorite Taildragger,” include the Husky A-1C, certified in 2007 and available in 180 HP (Lycoming 0-360-A1P engine; Hartzell 76 propeller) and 200 HP models (Lycoming IO-360-A1D6 engine; Hartzell 80 propeller). Pre-owned Husky models include the 1998-certified A-1B. Notable Husky owners are said to include Harrison Ford, Chuck Yeager, and the U.S. Department of Interior.

Christen Industries, which Aviat Aircraft purchased in the 1990s, designed the original Husky A-1. The company also created the Christen Eagle II aerobatic biplane, and after acquiring Pitts Aerobatics in 1983, continued producing models based on the single-seat biplane that Curtis Pitts originally designed in the early 1940s. Aviat’s current Pitts model is the Pitts S-2C.
