Schweizer Aircraft was a New York-based manufacturer of light piston and turbine helicopters. Sikorsky Aircraft purchased the company in 2004 and ended Schweizer Aircraft operations in 2012. Founded in the late 1930s by brothers Paul, William, and Ernest Schweizer, Schweizer Aircraft produced thousands of units of the Schweizer 300C helicopter, a model that stemmed from the Hughes 269 and Hughes 300 helicopter models. The 300C was popular for use in training pilots and in utility, agricultural, police, special mission, and other applications.

Schweizer Aircraft manufactured the three-seat 300C originally under a license it secured with Hughes Helicopters in the early 1980s. Schweizer Aircraft later acquired all rights to the 300C in 1986 from McDonnell Douglas, which had acquired Hughes Helicopters in 1984.

The 300C would eventually transition from being named the Schweizer-Hughes 300C to the Schweizer 300C to the Sikorsky S-300C. In the late 1980s, Schweizer began development on the Schweizer 330 and Schweizer 333, turbine-powered derivatives of the 300C. The 330 received certification in 1992.
