Boeing Announces New Analytics & MRO Abilities

Earlier this week, Boeing introduced five new analytics and MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) products and services at the MRO Americas Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Florida. Stan Deal, CEO of Boeing Global Services, characterized the new offerings as “driving lifecycle innovation” in terms of faster flow times, lower operational costs, and enhanced end-to-end reliability.

More Efficient, Less Expensive

In a statement, Deal said that as customers introduce the tools to their fleets, “platforms will become more efficient and less expensive to operate.” Among the products and services Boeing announced is Self-Service Analytics, a customer-requested ability from Boeing AnalytX that lets subscribers access their applications’ data via new analytics tools. Touted as providing millions of records, the service helps customers unearth new insights and opportunities to meet business goals, Boeing says.

The launch of a rapid-response capability, meanwhile, will enable Boeing to make “emergent parts and engineering modifications” quickly, translating to more affordable and “fit-for-purpose modifications,” Boeing states. Boeing will support the capability from its San Antonio-based rapid-response center, a 59,000-square-foot hangar capable of housing a 747-8 or a C-5 Galaxy.

Getting Interactive

Elsewhere, a Service Bulletin Value Tool that Boeing AnalytX will also power will help customers better understand “which of more than 1,000 service bulletins should be implemented in their fleet” based on customers’ own cost and savings benefit parameters. Boeing is making this tool available free of charge to existing myBoeingfleet customers.

Boeing is also adding new features to the all-in-one Aviator app, which provides centralized access to an integrated suite of electronic flight bag tools. New features include Briefing, Weather, and FliteDeck Advisor tools targeting pre-flight procedures, increasing situational awareness via meteorological data, and reducing fuel consumption while increasing on-time performance via real-time analysis and application of data.

Repair & Maintenance

The fifth item Boeing announced in its list of new products and services pertained to repairs. The company has received regulatory approval to provide repairs to Boeing 737 MAX Leap-1B engine inlets at its North Charleston, South Carolina, facility, making if the first provider worldwide to receive this approval.

In addition, Boeing announced a five-year customer and distribution agreement with HYDRO Systems KG that will provide the Boeing-owned Aviall aircraft parts and supplies company with access to HYDRO Systems KG's ground support equipment, including tripod jacks, axle jacks, tow bars, and landing gear installation equipment.
