Bombardier Business Aircraft says it has hired employees for half of the 1,000 new positions it’s planning to fill as part of its 19-seat Global 7000 business jet’s entry into service later this year. The announcement comes as the Montreal-based global train and aircraft manufacturer celebrates the 20th anniversary of its Global Completion Centre in Montreal this year. In January, Bombardier announced a $65 million investment as part of the inauguration of a state-of-the art Centre of Excellence in Montreal where high-precision completion work take place on the Global 7000, the “world’s largest purpose-built business jet.” Bombardier also manufacturers Learjet and Challenger business aircraft.

    Accepting Applicants

The Centre of Excellence is part of a group of Montreal-based manufacturing facilities that make up the Global Completion Centre. The center is dedicated to “defining, engineering, and manufacturing customized interior installations” for Bombardier’s Global family, which also includes the Global 5000, 6000, and 8000 business jets.

Paul Simard, vice president of operations at the center, said the 20-year milestone speaks to the contributions Bombardier has made to Montreal’s aerospace industry, as well as the “immense” success of the Global family. “This anniversary also highlights the superior quality, workmanship, and expertise delivered at the Global Completion Centre, demonstrating Bombardier’s position as a leader in the business aircraft industry,” he said.

Bombardier describes the center as combining “21st century forward-looking production methodology and tools” with a local workforce of highly skilled craftspeople, artisans, and engineers. Moving forward, Bombardier will continue its hiring workers and encouraging applicants to visit its careers website for more information.

    Redefining Business Aircraft

With the Global 7000, Bombardier is seeking to redefine the business aircraft experience, including by offering the only purpose-built business jet with four living spaces and a dedicated crew suite. Measuring 6.3 feet (1.9 meters) high, 8.2 feet (2.5 meters) wide, and 54.6 feet (16.6 meters) long, the Global 7000’s cabin will include an entertainment suite featuring stream HD content, Ka-band connectivity touted as the “aviation’s fastest in-flight connectivity,” and a full kitchen.

First introduced in 2014 in Europe, the aircraft will also include the Bombardier Vision flight deck, power on GE Passport engines, and offer a long-range capability of 7,400 nautical miles (13,705 kilometers) at Mach 0.85 but provide an overall top speed of Mach 0.925. As the Global 7000 nears its delivery date, Bombardier has all five of its test vehicles for the aircraft in flight.

Controller.com features many pre-owned Bombardier aircraft for sale, including pre-owned Challenger, Learjet, and Global jets.
