Dassault Aviation is displaying its Falcon 8X business jet at this week’s MEBAA (Middle East Business Aviation Association) 2018 Airshow in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Dassault also gave virtual reality demonstrations that enabled visitors to experience the cabin of Dassault’s upcoming Falcon 6X.

Of the 75 Falcon business jets now operating in the Middle East, Dassault says about one-third are large-cabin Falcon 8X or 7X models, which also make up about half of new Falcon deliveries. Dassault believes the region’s large-cabin trend will gain momentum soon when its ultra-widebody Falcon 6X, billed as offering “more cabin volume than any other business jet in its category,” enters service in 2022.

    High Value

Gilles Gautier, Dassault Aviation vice president of Falcon sales, says the Middle East places a high value on the performance, flexibility, robustness, and innovative features Dassault’s large-cabin models offer. “This is particularly true of newer models like the Falcon 8X, which offers the best combination of range, cabin comfort, and operating efficiency of any aircraft in its class,” says Gautier. “The regional market improved last year, and we anticipate a good market in 2019 and going forward. The region also offers significant replacement opportunities."

With a 6,450-nautical mile (11,945-kilometer) range, the 8X can complete such nonstop treks as New York to Dubai but still access short-runway airports often off limits to larger business jets. Offering the “quietest and brightest cabin” in business aviation, the 8X also offers such standard cabin configuration options as a forward VIP lounge that transforms into a certified crew rest area. Other options include Dassault’s FalconEye Combined Vision System, which includes “the first Head-Up Display to combine synthetic and enhanced vision” abilities, and Dassault’s inflight FalconConnect connectivity service.

    The 6X

Able to connect Dubai to various Africa, European, and Asia destinations, the Falcon 6X will sport Pratt & Whitney Canada PW812D engines, integrate a new “ultra-efficient” wing, and feature a new-generation Digital Flight Control System that includes a flaperon supporting enhanced lift and roll control. The 6X’s cabin will seat 12 to 16 passengers in three separate lounge areas and measures 6.6 feet (2 meters) high and 8.6 feet (2.6 meters) wide.

Dassault Aviation says that of the 75 Falcon business jets now in service in the Middle East region, about a third are Falcon 8X models (shown here) or Falcon 7X models, which the 8X was derived from. Dassault expects the large-cabin trend in the region to gain additional traction when its Falcon 6X begins deliveries in 2022. (Photo courtesy of Dassault Aviation.)
