    About Dassault Aviation

Dassault Aviation is a French aerospace company that manufactures Falcon business jets and military aircraft, including the twin-jet Rafale multi-role fighter. A subsidiary of Dassault Group, the company was founded by Marcel Bloch, later known as Marcel Dassault, who developed the Éclair propeller in 1916. Dassault Aviation claims to have created more than 100 aircraft prototypes. In addition to 2,100 Falcon jets in service in nearly 100 countries, Dassault says there are 1,000 of its military aircraft in service. Dassault also designs and sells its Falcon jets for maritime surveillance, intelligence, and medical evacuation missions.

    Dassault Aviation Falcon 7X

To support Falcon operators, it has more than 60 Falcon service centers around the world, plus 16 spare parts centers and two mobile Falcon Response support aircraft.

    The Falcon Lineup

The Falcon lineup includes the Falcon 6X, 10X, and 2000LXS twin jets, and Falcon 7X, 8X, and 900LX tri-jets. Many technological innovations designed into Falcon aircraft were derived from Dassault combat aircraft, including advances in aerodynamics, cockpit design, and head-up displays. Dassault says Falcons have the market’s lowest carbon dioxide emissions, as well as fuel consumption levels that are 30% to 50% lower than competing aircraft. In 2022, Dassault introduced a patented Falcon Privacy Suite concept including a reclining seat/ottoman, a 4K display connected to an Innovative Cabin System, ambient reading light, and other features that create a more restful environment.

The 16-passenger Falcon 6X boasts a tall, wide cabin that won a Private Jet Design prize and a Red Dot Design Award. The 16-passenger Falcon 8X has the industry’s longest cabin at 42.8 feet (13 meters) and its quietest at 49 dB, Dassault says. The Falcon 2000LXS boasts a widebody cross-section, and uses 20% less fuel and requires 20% less runway to land than its nearest competitor, Dassault says.

    Company History

Dassault’s history has been heavily tied to the development and manufacture of combat aircraft since World War I. In 1918, the two-seat Sea IV reconnaissance biplane became its first production aircraft. During the 1930s, Dassault produced its first all-metal postal and ambulance aircraft, first commercial and production airliners, first four-engine airliner, and first mass-production fighter. In 1952, the Mystère IV became the first French production supersonic aircraft. In 1963, the company built its first business jet, the Mystère Falcon 20. Falcon 10 and Falcon 50 business jets followed in the 1970s, and the Falcon 900 became Dassault’s first business jet designed using 3-D digital models in 1984. Launched in 2005, the Falcon 7X became the world’s first business jet with a fully digital control system, Dassault says. In 2015, the Falcon 8X became the first French-produced intercontinental business jet in the ultra-long-range segment.
