Airbus’ ACJ319neo Corporate Jet Successfully Completes First Flight
The first flight for the Airbus ACJ319neo business jet is in the books. The leading commercial and business jet, military aircraft, and helicopter manufacturer detailed the April 24th accomplishment in a statement, noting that the 1 hour, 55-minute successful flight marks the beginning of a short flight test program to verify the ACJ319neo’s corporate jet features. In this case, those included five extra fuel ACTs (additional center tanks) in the jet’s cargo hold to enable intercontinental range. Airbus also produces the ACJ320neo, ACJ330neo, and ACJ350XWB business jets.
Set For Delivery
Derived from the Airbus A320neo family of airliners, the ACJ319neo is outfitted with new Sharklets and either twin CFM LEAP-1A or PW1100G engines. The jet can fly eight passengers 15 hours nonstop, or 6,750 nautical miles (12,501 kilometers) and provides a maximum cruise altitude of 41,000 feet (12.5 kilometers). Airbus says the ACJ319neo provides three times the cabin space compared to traditional business jets; the cabin measures 79 feet (24 meters) long, 12.2 feet (3.7 meters) wide, and 7.5 feet (2.3 meters) high.
The ACJ319neo that completed the initial test flight is being built for Germany’s K5 Aviation, and the Netherlands-based Fokker Techniek will outfit the jet with a VVIP cabin upon delivery. Airbus says K5 Aviation’s model will include such improvements as a lower cabin altitude, which will provide enhanced passenger comfort.
In Service
Airbus says corporate jet orders and commitments for aircraft derived from the ACJ320neo family now stand at 14. The aerospace company has roughly 200 corporate jets in service and 700-plus aircraft from the A320neo family in service overall. Airbus has taken nearly 15,000 firm orders for aircraft from the entire A320 family.
