GE Aviation has announced a deal with Jet Aviation that will see the latter use GE’s C-FOQA (Corporate - Flight Operations Quality Assurance) services as part of a comprehensive safety and fleet modernization project. Jet Aviation, a General Dynamics company that provides business aviation FBO, maintenance, completions, and charter services, operates a global fleet of about 300 aircraft including Airbus, Boeing Business Jets, Bombardier, Dassault Aviation, and Gulfstream business jets, as well as other models.

    Measuring Safety

FOQA, also commonly referred to as “FDM” or “flight data monitoring,” is the process of analyzing routinely recorded flight data to better identify and eliminate potential safety hazards in flight operations. The airline industry introduced FOQA 20-plus years ago, says GE, adding that 300-plus operators worldwide use its C-FOQA offerings. GE Aviation says its patented analytics software “fuses meteorological information, navigation data, and terrain mapping to identify safety events and measurements on thousands of flights every day.”

David Dalpiaz, Jet Aviation senior director, operations and technical services, describes C-FOQA as an integral tool that helps ensure the company’s training programs and operating policies deliver the industry’s most stringent principles of safety and efficiency. “GE Aviation's C-FOQA program allows us to carry this to a new level," he says.
