Embraer Announces Its Upgraded Phenom 300E, Featuring Single-Pilot Speed Up To Mach 0.80

    Posted On: February 3, 2020

Embraer recently announced a series of upgrades to its Phenom 300E light business jet, including Mach 0.80 speed, decreased in-cabin noise, more pilot legroom, and availability of the award-winning Bossa Nova interior. (Photo courtesy of Embraer.)

Brazilian-based Embraer Executive Jets says upgrades it has added to its twin-engine Phenom 300E business jet make it the “first single-pilot jet to reach Mach 0.80.” The distinction is just one of several upgrades to the light jet, which also include improved avionics, a quieter cabin, and new Bossa Nova Edition interior option. Launched in 2005, Embraer says the Phenom 300 series is the most successful business jet of the past decade and claims the model family has sustained more than half of the light jet market share since 2012. Deliveries of upgraded Phenom 300Es are set to begin in May, though some features will be optional.

    The Upgrades

Embraer announced the Phenom 300E (“E” stands for “Enhanced”) in 2017, and entered it into service months later. Embraer says the jet is both the fastest and longest-range single-pilot jet. This latest upgraded version includes two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW535E1 engines that each produce 3,478 pounds of thrust to help produce a high-speed cruise of 464 knots. With five passengers, the business jet’s range is 2,010 nautical miles (3,722 kilometers) with National Business Aviation Association IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) reserves.

Comfort-minded upgrades include noise-reduction improvements that lower in-flight cabin, high-frequency, and boarding noise. Elsewhere, the pilot and co-pilot seats get roughly 40% more tracking for added legroom. Further, Embraer is making the Bossa Nova Edition interior that it first introduced with its Praetor 500 and 600 business jets in 2018 available in the Phenom 300E. The Bossa Nova interior won a best design award in last year’s International Yacht & Aviation Awards.

    Upgraded Avionics

Along with 4G connectivity via Gogo AVANCE L5, the Phenom 300E features a Prodigy Touch Flight Deck (based on the Garmin 3000 avionics suite) that now includes a runway overrun awareness and alerting system, a predictive wind shear feature, emergency descent mode, FAA Datacom, and PERF and TOLD (performance and takeoff/landing data). The runway overrun awareness and alerting system notably “acts as an additional pilot and warns if the aircraft’s approach is too steep or too fast.”

In addition to Phenom models, Embraer also manufactures Legacy, Praetor, and Lineage business jets. Controller.com has a huge selection of new and used Embraer aircraft for sale every day, including dozens of Phenoms.
