Roughly a month after Bombardier entered its new 16-passenger long-range and large-cabin Global 5500 into service with a delivery to an undisclosed recipient, the company announced it has delivered the first Global 5500 to be based in the United States. Occurring at Bombardier’s facilities in Wichita, Kansas, the delivery went to Unicorp National Developments, a property development firm based in Orlando, Florida. The Global 5500 joins the 5000, the 6000, the new 6500, the 7500, and the 8000 in the Global business jet lineup.

    “Peace Of Mind”

Noting that his company is “beyond excited” to start benefiting from its new Global 5500, Unicorp President Chuck Whittall says the jet will enable Unicorp employees to “travel with less fuss and more peace of mind.” A longtime Bombardier customer, Unicorp took delivery of the first Learjet 60 aircraft completed at Bombardier’s manufacturing facility in Wichita. (Learjet is a Bombardier brand.) Unicorp’s Global 5500 will be available for charter via Elite Air out of the Orlando International Airport.

Offering what Bombardier says is best-in-class range (5,900 nautical miles/10,928 kilometers at Mach 0.85), the Global 5500 can fly nonstop from Florida to Sao Paolo, Paris, London, or Moscow. The jet is powered by custom-designed Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 engines and includes the Bombardier Vision flight deck. It also includes three living areas that feature 4K/Ultra-HD entertainment, Ka-band high-speed in-flight internet connectivity, and Bombardier’s exclusive Pũr Air air-purification system and patented Nuage seating. Bombardier claims Nuage is the “first new seat architecture in business aviation in 30 years,” and that the Pũr Air system captures 99.9% of allergens, bacteria, and viruses.
