Gulfstream Aerospace’s voyage to the recent Singapore Airshow was a memorable one for a couple of reasons. In addition to bringing its G700 business jet to the show for the first time, the long-range aircraft set its 50th and 51st city pair speed records along the way.

The 19-passenger G700 boasts an aerodynamic wing, an all-new winglet, and twin Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines, each rated for 18,250 pounds of takeoff thrust. The power plants give the aircraft a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.935, the fastest in the Gulfstream’s fleet. The G700 also has a high-cruise speed of Mach 0.90 and a long-range cruise speed of Mach 0.85.

    Piling Up Records

The G700 set these latest records on two carbon-neutral flights. The first occurred while flying from Los Angeles to Nice, France, a 5,197-nautical-mile (9,625-kilometer) trip that took 10 hours and 13 minutes at an average speed of Mach 0.90. The jet established the second record flying from Nice to Singapore, a 5,754-nm (10,656-km) trek taking 11 hours and 30 minutes also at an average speed of Mach 0.91.

Gulfstream says a benefit of the G700’s capability to cruise at Mach 0.90 with such exceptional range is the time it saves travelers. Owners, meanwhile, benefit because fewer flight hours mean extended periods between scheduled maintenance visits.

    Inside The Gulfstream G700

The G700 is far from just speedy. It also boasts an all-new ultra-large cabin the company claims is business aviation’s most spacious, innovative, and flexible. The cabin features up to five living areas, including the industry’s only ultra galley. The G700 cabin’s design earned Gulfstream a 2022 International Yacht & Aviation Award (IY&AA) in 2022. The aircraft’s seats won an IY&AA award in 2020.

Gulfstream says the G700 also provides the industry’s lowest cabin altitude at 2,840 feet (866 meters) when flying at 41,000 ft (12,497 m). The aircraft has a maximum flight range of 7,750 nm (14,353 km).
