Jake Ruiz of Mason Amelia proudly presents N821CV, a late-model 2016 Generation 5, normally aspirated Cirrus SR22 GTS featuring several upgrades that began trickling down from the upcoming G6. N821CV is exceptionally well equipped with every available factory option while still maintaining an impressive 1,162 lbs of useful load - notable for a FIKI-equipped aircraft with built-in oxygen and air conditioning. The 2016 model year also introduced upgraded door latches and the Garmin GMA 350C audio panel, bringing some refinements of the G6 into the final year of the G5.
Compared to a turbocharged SR22, the normally aspirated (or as some call it “naturally aspirated”, so let’s simply call it “NA”) configuration eliminates approximately 80 lbs of turbo system weight, preserving valuable useful load. Along with its composite Hartzell propeller, 1CV delivers strong climb performance at lower altitudes, cooler engine operation, historically longer cylinder life, lower fuel consumption, and reduced maintenance and operating costs compared with the turbo variant. If your typical mission does not require routinely operating above approximately 15,000 feet, the NA SR22 represents an excellent balance of performance, efficiency, and capability. And if your mission includes comfortably carrying four adults with a full tank of fuel, 1CV is exceptionally well suited for the job.
Generation 5 Capability: N821CV benefits from the G5’s 200 lb gross-weight increase along with an increased first-notch flap extension speed of 150 KIAS. The result is substantially greater useful load and operational flexibility compared with earlier SR22 generations. Upgrade the Garmin G1000 Perspective avionics to Perspective+ NXi, and you have an aircraft almost identical to a G6.
With a fresh CAPS parachute, seat inflators, line cutters, and more, this G5 GTS is positioned for years of flying with very little anticipated near-term maintenance expense.
Taken as a whole, 1CV is simply the complete package: exceptionally clean, properly maintained, impressively equipped, and without a long list of expensive maintenance items waiting for its next owner. Finding all of those attributes together in one late-model G5 is becoming increasingly difficult.
