Sikorsky is one of the oldest and most well-known designers and manufacturers of helicopters for military and civilian uses. Founded by Igor Sikorksy in 1923, the company became part of Lockheed Martin in 2015 as part of a $9 billion acquisition. Based in Stratford, Connecticut, the company’s more notable aircraft include the Black Hawk and Seahawk military helicopters.

After starting as Sikorsky Manufacturing Company, Sikorsky later became part of what is now United Technologies Corporation and was later merged with Vought Aircraft. Credited with developing the first stable, single-rotor, fully controllable helicopter with the R-4 in the late 1930s and creating helicopters used by numerous heads of states over the decades, Sikorsky would later design its first model targeting the commercial market in the mid-1970s.

Current Sikorsky helicopter models aimed at business uses include the S-76, of which there are 850-plus units in service globally with 130 customers using S-76 in corporate or VIP roles. A customizable S-76D version is specifically marketed as the Executive Helicopter. The Sikorsky S-92, a nine-passenger helicopter with a 6-foot tall cabin, is also targeted for executive use. Sikorsky also operates a 24/7 Customer Care Center in Trumbull, Connecticut.
