A Boeing Business Jet 787-8 Dreamliner, Dassault Aviation Falcon 900LX and Falcon 8X, Bombardier Challenger 650 and Global 5000, Honda Aircraft Company HondaJet, and new Gulfstream G500 and G600 business jets are among the aircraft on display at the 2018 MEBAA (Middle East and North Africa Business Aviation Association) Airshow. Running this week, December 10-12, the “Middle East’s leading business aviation exhibition” is being held at the Dubai World Central (or DWC, aka Dubai South) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Overall, 30-plus aircraft are scheduled for exhibit.

    The Latest Aircraft

The MEBAA Airshow will also feature Textron Aviation’s Beechcraft King Air 350i, Diamond Aircraft’s DA-40 NG and DA 62, and Cirrus Aircraft’s Vision Jet, as well as Embraer’s Legacy 500, 650E, and Lineage 1000E executive aircraft. Other aircraft on display will include an Airbus A340-500 from Citadel, a Boeing 757-200 from Avjet Global, a Pilatus PC-12 NG from AMAC Aerospace, and Airbus ACJ319 and Sukhoi Superjet 100 from Comlux. Among the helicopters on display will be an Agusta A109SP from Falcon Aviation and Bell’s 429 and 505.

MEBAA points out that Honda Aircraft’s HondaJet is making its second appearance at the show. The jet made its Middle East debut at the 2016 event. Michimasa Fujino, Honda Aircraft Company president and CEO, described the Middle East as a “very important market,” in part “because there are still potential opportunities in the light jet market in the region.” The 2016 MEBAA show, he said, produced numerous positive reactions for Honda Aircraft and its technology.

    What Attendees Can Expect

According to MEBAA, the 2016 event drew more than 9,000 attendees from nearly 100 countries, and 460 exhibitors from about 50 countries. Ali Alnaqbi, MEBAA executive chairman, says that while the Middle East business aviation market has traditionally favored larger aircraft, “one potential growth area is for companies to build their business aviation fleets to include a range of jets and aircraft that are suitable for the varied missions that business in the region presents.” Boeing, meanwhile, has predicted a demand for nearly 3,000 new aircraft valued at $754 billion in the region by 2037.
