Honda Aircraft, a wholly owned subsidiary of Honda that’s based at the Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, North Carolina, develops and manufactures the HondaJet H-420, the company’s first aircraft. Described as a business jet with the size and weight of a very light jet, the HondaJet H-420 powers on dual GE Honda Aero turbofan engines situated in an Over-The-Wing Engine Mount design meant to provide more cabin space, reduce noise, and enhanced fuel efficiency. The H-420 also features NLF (natural laminar flow) wings, a Garmin G3000 next-generation all-glass avionics system, and carbon fiber fuselage. The aircraft is billed as the first all-composite business jet to fly.

Honda entered the aviation sector in 1986 when Honda Aircraft CEO Michimasa Fujino began work on what became the HondaJet. It wasn’t until 2006, however, when Honda officially entered the aviation sector and created Honda Aircraft Company in the United States. Work on the company’s headquarters in North Carolina started a year later. In 2014, the first production HondaJet flew, and in late 2015, Honda Aircraft delivered the first model. The aircraft was FAA-certified that same year. In August 2017, Honda Aircraft Company claimed the H-420 was the most delivered jet in its category for 2017’s first half. New and used HondaJets are available at Controller.com.
