Back in October, Gulfstream launched its upcoming G700’s world tour to demonstrate the business jet’s capabilities to prospective customers. The tour has wrapped up, and it looks to have been a smashing success. While making stops in 20 countries across six continents, two fully outfitted production test G700 aircraft established 25 world speed records, Gulfstream says. (The records still await approval from the Aeronautic Association and Fédération Aéronautique Internationale in Switzerland.)

“The G700 world tour was a tremendous success,” says Gulfstream President Mark Burns. “We knew the aircraft would perform exceptionally well, and they exceeded even our own high expectations for both reliability and performance across a variety of routes. Showcasing the outfitted aircraft to our customers and prospects around the world bolstered the already strong demand we are seeing for the G700.”

    Standout Performance

Introduced in October 2019, the 19-passenger G700 is set to enter service this year. Already, it has been honored with International Yacht & Aviation Awards for its all-new Classic Seat in 2020 and for cabin design in 2022. The jet also established eight international city pair speed records before the tour began.

The tour saw the production aircraft logging 53,882 nautical miles (99,789 kilometers) over more than 180 flight hours. The aircraft completed a record-breaking run from Savannah, Georgia, to Riyadh in 12 hours and 36 minutes, flying at an average speed of Mach 0.90 to begin the tour’s international leg. It later zipped from Riyadh to Melbourne in 13 hours, 39 minutes at an average clip of Mach 0.87. The aircraft needed 12 hours, 13 minutes flying at an average speed of Mach 0.87 to travel from Christchurch, New Zealand, to Los Angeles.

    The G700

Far more than a speed demon, the G700 also boasts the industry’s most spacious cabin and the industry’s only ultra-galley, which provides over 10 feet (3 meters) of counter space, Gulfstream says. Other cabin elements of note include a grand suite with a fixed bed, a lavatory with a full vanity and shower, and an ultra-high definition dynamic circadian lighting system.

Customers can also expect the industry’s lowest cabin altitude (2,916 feet; 889 meters) when flying at 41,000 ft (12,497 m), Gulfstream says. The aircraft’s flight range is 7,500 nm (13,890 km), and it has a maximum speed of Mach 0.925, a high-speed cruise speed of Mach 0.90, and a long-range cruise speed of Mach 0.85.
