Air Tahiti Nui Receives 787-9 Dreamliner
Upon receiving its first Boeing aircraft ever in mid-October, South Pacific-based Air Tahiti Nui’s CEO and Chairman Michel Monvoisin summed up the acquisition by saying the airline’s “dream has finally become reality.” Air Tahiti Nui, founded in 1996 and operating out of the Tahiti Faa’a International Airport, took delivery of a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner via a lease from ALC (Air Lease Corporation). The airline will use the wide-body, long-range Dreamliner to replace its aging Airbus A340 aircraft.
A World Treasure
With a flight range of 7,635 nautical miles (14,140 kilometers), the Dreamliner 787-9 will help Air Tahiti Nui connect passengers from its South Pacific base to Paris, Tokyo, Los Angeles, and other international locations. In 2015, Air Tahiti Nui announced plans to lease two Boeing 787s and purchase two others directly from Boeing. The first Dreamliner 787-9 the airline received was outfitted for 294 seats in three classes, including 30 full “lie-flat” seats in a new cabin business class and 30 premium economy seats, Boeing says.
Monvoisin said the “Tahitian Dreamliner will make flying to one of the world's treasures an unforgettable experience, as we introduce new seats and a culturally inspired cabin on the 787. As we celebrate our 20th anniversary this year, the 787 Dreamliner will guide us towards another successful 20 years and beyond."
The Dreamliner Lineup
Offering 290 seats in a standard configuration, the 787-9 supports the longest flight range in the Dreamliner lineup, which also includes the 242-seat 787-8 (7,355-nautical mile; 13,620-kilometer range) and 330-seat 787-10 (6,430 nautical miles; 11,910 kilometers). Boeing touts the 787-9 as able to achieve its 7,635-nautical mile top range while also reducing fuel use and emissions by 20 to 25 percent in comparison to older aircraft.
Besides Dreamliner aircraft, Boeing manufacturers 737 MAX commercial aircraft and Boeing Business Jets. Controller.com has numerous used Boeing aircraft for sale, including 737s, 777s, 757s, 747s, 727s, and Boeing Business Jet aircraft.
