Airbus To Focus On Mission-Specific Helicopters At Heli-Expo Show
Airbus is ready to fly into Atlanta for the upcoming Heli-Expo trade show. The European aviation giant will showcase a lineup of mission-ready rotary-wing aircraft and services at the show, which will take place from March 5 to 7 at the Georgia World Congress Center.
“This year’s Heli-Expo will focus on how we constantly strive to provide customers with products adapted to their missions, however varied those may be, and the right services to allow them to focus solely on performing those missions successfully,” says Airbus Helicopters CEO Bruno Even.
Purpose-Built Configurations
Airbus will highlight unspecified new features of its popular H145 light twin-engine helicopter. Like other rotorcraft from the firm, the H145 sports a signature shrouded tail rotor and has an operational envelope extending into high altitudes and hot conditions.
Next is the company’s light single-engine H125, which will be displayed in a law enforcement version. The cop chopper has an array of police gear available to it including search lights, night vision support, and loudspeakers.
Airbus will also show a luxurious cabin display of the Mercedes-Benz Style interior of the ACH145 helicopter for private and business aviation. There will also be a conceptual mock-up for an EMS (emergency medical services) version of the all-new H160 medium utility helicopter scheduled to enter service this year. The company says that the H160’s large cabin volume makes it well-suited to an EMS role.
Services & Training
Airbus also plans to display a scale mock-up of its high-speed Racer (Rapid And Cost-Efficient Rotorcraft) demonstrator. The company and its European partners are collaborating on the fast, efficient, quiet helicopter, which should enter the prototype stage by the end of this year.
Representatives will also be on hand for HCare, Airbus’ global customer support and service group. They will provide demonstrations of new digital services and information on ways to improve aircraft availability, optimize costs, improve safety, and increase asset value.
Finally, Airbus has painted one of its light, twin-engine H135s in U.S. Navy colors and plans to give flight demonstrations at the show. The company hopes to convince the Navy’s pilot training program to adopt the H135, with its operational availability rate of more than 90%.
